Maria – July 23, 2008
It’s been awhile but it’s been busy. I’ve spent the summer so far conducting a 20-piece orchestra on CBC’s “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?”. It’s Andrew Lloyd Webber’s show, and the point of it is to find the new Maria for the upcoming Mirvish production of “The Sound of Music” at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. It was a runaway success in England, so we’ve got high hopes for it here. It’s been great fun, working with a hundred people on a show, instead of the lonely guy toiling away in the studio, only poking my nose up above ground when hungry or thirsty. Plus, so much of my work seems to emanate from England, which is great because I absolutely love working with the Brits. Their combination of self-deprecating sense of humour and old world manners is a joy to be around.Â
Something big and fun coming up, tell you next week.
Lou
