Happy Spring! – April 30, 2009

Sorry, it’s been awhile, but i’ve been hibernating and travelling over the winter. I never posted to talk about the Michael BublĂ© CD I worked on in December. Michael says it will be out this fall. I ended up doing the string and horn arrangements on 6 tracks ( but in this business you never know how many will end up on the finished CD ). I had a great time…..Michael had a terrible cold when i arrived, but started to feel better towards the end of the week. We recorded at The Warehouse in Gastown in downtown Vancouver. It’s Bryan Adams place, and it’s a beautiful old renovated warehouse….sure wish we had something like that in Toronto.

One of the highlights of the week was one afternoon Michael said his family was coming by with lunch. Well…..about 8 people rolled in carrying a mountain of food and red wine, and recording stopped for about 2 hours while we chowed down. Michael’s seemingly French last name can be confusing, but he is Italian all the way. I ended up talking mostly to his uncle, who was familiar with Abruzzi, where my family is from. Anyway, we had a great time, though i’m not sure how much work we got done in the afternoon. The tunes we worked on were great, and it was great to see Bob Rock again. Be sure to get the CD when it comes out.

Talk soon.
