I’ll be posting pics very shortly on the site. The newest addition is my keyboard room. A dream home for my vintage stuff. In the room are: Schimmel 7′ Grand Piano, 1969 Hammond B3 Organ w/122 Leslie, Fender Rhodes Stage Model, Hohner Clavinet D6, and my newly restored MiniMoog from the mid 70s! All are working perfectly, and i’m just looking for a good Wurlitzer electric piano to finish it off. Right downtown at Spadina and Richmond.

Just finished working on the new Michael Buble CD in Los Angeles. We recorded at East West, which is the old Western United Recorders on Sunset. Great history there….Sinatra, Bacharach, Mancini, Beach Boys, the list goes on and on. Hearing the big band recorded in there was a thrill. Always great fun to work with Michael and Bob Rock. Great guys.

And it was a rush to go to the current RUSH tour here in town at the Air Canada Centre. I wrote the original music for the tour film again…this time for Clockwork Angels.

And tonight is the debut of Season 4 of The Ron James Show on CBC. Be sure to tune in to hear the funniest guy in the country!

Finally, i just want to say how great it is to be living full time back in Toronto. It’s home, and I missed it terribly. The country experience was interesting, but I’m a city boy through and through. Sometimes you have to leave to find that out. The live music, the restaurants, the shows, the buzz…keeps me humming.  Work downtown, and live in The Beach…

Lots of changes. We moved back to Toronto after living in the country for 9 years. It’s great to be back! The new studio at Richmond and Spadina is almost done. I’ve partnered with well known engineer/producer Jeff Wolpert to build this studio in the heart of Downtown Toronto.

Lots of exciting things happening: just started work on the new Michael Buble CD in Vancouver. The last Buble CD i worked on, Crazy Love, sold 7 million copies! And they say there’s no record business left. Always great to work with Bob Rock and the whole gang. Also just about to start on Season 4 of The Ron James Show for CBC. And I’m busy writing and producing music for the new Rush tour film, Clockwork Angels. Always very funny stuff. Welcome To The Boogaloo Lounge is out. It’ll be available on iTunes by next week, probably byJuly 27th. You’ll be able to order a CD here on my website…or get it at any of the digital download stores….or at The Orbit Room when i play there. It’s a tribute to the 60s and 70s music that i love. I wrote all the tunes last summer while at the height of my midlife crisis….thank god it was good for something.  There’s a ballad that i wrote for Dione Taylor and Duane Blackburn called “Loving You” that turned out great, check it out. It’s also available for listening/streaming on www.grooveshark.com  .

Also just started Season 3 of The Ron James Show. And I”m currently scoring the CBC 75th Anniversary Special with Martin Short. I love him. And working on a new Discovery Channel series “Mighty Planes”. Today is supposedly the hottest day ever in Toronto, 38 degrees. Should be nice and greasy in The Orbit Room tonight!

I just finished the 2011 Genie Awards for CBC…highest ratings ever.  And The Ron James Show has been renewed for Season 3. We’ll be working on that in late spring and it debuts in September. Did a couple of records for my buddy Stevie Salas, which is always fun. Also, IIFA, also known as the “Bollywood Oscars” is in Toronto on June 25th at Skydome. I”ll be working with Enter The Picture Ent. on the opening number for that 6 hour extravaganza. There’s a list of other shows coming up that i can tell you about in the next blog.

And there is news for my band, The Dexters. After a 6 year hiatus we are back at The Orbit Room in Toronto the 2nd Thursday of every month at 9pm. See the Gigs page for details. And my solo CD “Welcome To The Boogaloo Lounge” is nearing completion…out by early summer. The world’s first boogaloo ‘concept’ album. Featuring The Dexters.
